Wes Welker in Green Bay?

Is there legs here? Probably, but Welker does not fit the profile for what general manager Ted Thompson targets. Green Bays medical staff is one of the more conservative units in the league. Denying both Nick Colllins and Jermichael Finley the clearance they needed to resume playing football. Those were life threatening neck injuries that required the same neck fusion surgery Peyton Manning went through. Welker is a concussion risk. Given the fact that awareness is higher than ever after the Chris Borland retirement, I don’t see Thompson bringing in Welker. Even at a reasonable price. And we haven’t even mentioned the fact that Welker was a shell of himself last year. The Packers already have one of the top receiving groups in the NFL with Pro Bowlers Jordy Nelson and Randall Cobb. Not to mention emerging star Davante Adams and his year 2 teammates Jared Abbrederis and Jeff Janis. Maybe..maybe, if early word on Abbrederis’ ACL injury isn’t looking good, then I could see. This looks more like Welker’s agent throwing out Green Bay’s name as a way to gain bargaining leverage for another Welker suitor. We shall see.
