The Packers and OLB Clay Matthews are close to signing a new deal. The parameters of the deal are set to make Matthews one of the NFL’s highest paid linebackers. Per Adam Schefter of ESPN, the deal will be done by this off-season and average more than $13 million per year. Per Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, the deal is said to eclipse DeMarcus Ware’s 2009 deal of 6 years, 78-million. Matthews has been a cornerstone of the Green Bay defense and has been elected to the Pro Bowl every year since 2009.
